Seeking Arts & Outreach Coordinator
The Elizabethtown Social Center is a community hub for the greater Elizabethtown region. We provide cultural events for all ages, including arts, music and movement programming; hosts community interest groups and operates a popular afterschool Teen-Rec program.
We are seeking a full-time Arts and Outreach Coordinator to plan, promote, and execute arts programming for all ages, including our Teen-Rec program and assist in fundraising and publicity. The Coordinator will also work collaboratively with community stakeholders on public and media relations for the town of Elizabethtown. This is a grant-funded position.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Arts Program Development
· Assists the executive director in analyzing community arts needs, interests, and desires; responds accordingly by developing appropriate arts programs, events, trips and classes.
Arts Program Coordination and Oversight
· Creates, plans, promotes, and supervises arts activities, programs, and events for all ages.
· Plans, guides and chaperones off-site community and Teen Rec trips.
· Assists with programs, events and activities with duties such as setting up (i.e. arranging chairs and tables), cleaning up (i.e. putting supplies away; trash removal) and other such tasks as necessary for the Center’s operations.
· Engages with teens during Teen Rec hours which may include, but not be limited to, organizing activities, trips and events; teaching skills (e.g. crafts, photography, cooking); institutes Teen Rec discipline, per policy. This may involve parental, and, in severe cases, police contact.
· Helps with preparing program status reports, maintaining related records and files, developing program policies and procedures, and preparing program information for grants and grant reports.
· Ensures that safety standards and precautions are followed in all Social Center activities.
Publicity
· Develop, manage, and grow social media strategies to foster engagement and build relationships with various stakeholders.
· Identify and develop opportunities to create content across communications platforms to tell stories about our mission and work.
· Publicize Social Center events, programs, trips and classes by:
o Writing and submitting press releases.
o Creating graphics, ads and flyers for events, programs, trips and classes.
o Maintaining email lists and sending email blasts for events, programs, trips and classes.
o Generating interest on Social Center social media with regular posts and events.
o Updating the Social Center website on a regular basis to ensure up-to-date information.
· Maintain and promote E’town website by:
o Communicating and developing relationships with community organizations, municipalities, businesses and groups in order to generate content.
o Collecting information about community activities, events, amenities, and news to generate content.
o Creating graphics and ads.
o Maintaining email lists and sending email blasts.
o Generating interest on E’town social media with regular posts and events.
o Updating the website on a regular basis to ensure up-to-date information.
Fundraising
· Collaborate with ESC leadership on fundraising strategies and efforts.
Other
· Helps all staff to keep the building and grounds in good order which may include, but not be limited to, keeping bathrooms clean and orderly; putting away equipment and supplies; picking up grounds; straightening up common areas; keeping an orderly office space; and closing and locking up buildings.
· This position may involve lifting, bending, standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, reaching, and grasping. Must be able to demonstrate and/or describe activities to youth. This position works around youth and adults with moderate exposure to noise. This position will work both indoors and outdoors.
· The position is also responsible for other duties as assigned, within the scope of the overall position.
Qualifications
Requires excellent written communication skills; bachelor’s degree OR equivalent in education plus experience in public relations, arts administration, event planning, and/or a related field; experience and comfort working with all age groups, particularly adolescents; experience in arts programming; comfort using social media, technology, and graphic design; and experience with photography, design, video, and basic video editing. Experience with grants and fundraising is a plus, as is enthusiasm for small town living. Must have a clean driving record and be comfortable driving a passenger van and guiding group trips. Must pass a background check. Remote work is not an option for this position.
Schedule, Salary and Benefits
This is a full-time, non-exempt, hourly position. Schedule is 35 hours/week, generally Tuesday - Saturday, with both weekday and weekend shifts that will include some evenings, with variation and flexibility. Salary range is $40-45,500/year.
