Pleasant Valley Chorale

 

Love to sing? Need an outlet? The Pleasant Valley Chorale might just be what you are looking for. 

​

Led by director Susan Hughes, the Chorale is a fun group with over thirty members from all over the Champlain Valley. New members are welcome at the start of each session; no audition is required.

 

New members are welcome; please know that there is a weekly commitment for this group.  Dues are $15 for the session. The next session is TBA.  For more information, call the Center.

The Pleasant Valley Chorale was started in 1986 by Joe Wyant.

Writers Group

The Elizabethtown Social Center sponsors a Writers Group coordinated by local author Sandra Weber. Please check our calendar for meeting times.

 

The group is open to all skill levels, ages, and interests.Group members will offer supportive and constructive criticism to each other’s writing efforts and exchange information about writing, publishing and writer events in the area. The group is open to a wide variety of genre, including short story, novel chapters, poetry, essays, nonfiction book chapters, newsletters, newspaper/magazine articles, and children’s stories - Or, simply recording your memories for your family.

 

The main requirement in the group is that members have a desire to support writers and the creative process.  Writing or sharing writing with the group is not required, just an enjoyment of learning about writing offering encouragement to writers. For those who are (or want to be) writers, it is an opportunity to get feedback, meet other writers, improve your skills, and learn more about publishing.

 

Coordinator Sandra Weber is an independent scholar with a focus on Adirondack Mountain region and women’s history. She has published nine books, including Adirondack Roots:: Stories of Hiking, History and Women: Breaking Trail: Remarkable Women of the Adirondacks with co-author, Peggy Lynn; and the Finest Square Mile: Mount Jo and Heart Lake. American Legion Post 551

The American Legion Post 551 meets at the Social Center on the third Thursday every month at 7 pm. Anyone who has served in the millitary is eligible to attend meetings and join.

Adirondack Friends of Refugees

Meets monthly at the Elizabethtown Social Center. Please see the calendar for exact dates.

 

Adirondack Friends of Refugees (AFRI) is a group of activists from the Adirondack Region in New York hailing from Elizabethtown, Essex, Keene and Keene Valley, Lewis, Westport, and Willsboro. Formed in 2016 in response to the Syrian refugee crisis, Adirondack Friends of Refugees and Immigrants is a group of committed people who are exploring ways of supporting refugees and immigrants in New York State’s North Country and elsewhere.

Spanish Tots

​

This free Spanish immersion program on Wednesdays at 9:30 am provides a unique and fun opportunity for children and parents to become exposed to and strengthen their Spanish language skills and have fun socializing with neighbors.

 

Come with your little ones aged 0 to 7 years. There will be dress up days, treasure hunts, games and theme activities! A parent/guardian must accompany their children. Please check the calendar for dates.

Preschool Playgroup

​

Join the fun Wednesday mornings at 10:30-12:30! Children aged 0-7, together with a parent or guardian, are welcome to join this fun group where kids can play and learn social skills. Adults can communicate, commiserate, and share experiences in a face-to-face setting.

 

Play will be both outdoors and indoors and will include fun activities like soccer, water balloons, gymkhana, bubbles, crafts, etc. All are welcome from Elizabethtown and neighboring communities. Anyone interested in starting an interest group or community activity is encouraged to contact us. The Social Center regularly hosts groups such as knitting/crocheting, card/board games, etc. Please contact us if you have an interest you would like to share in a social atmosphere.
